Airsoft FAQ

Safety & Rules

Personal Gear Requirements

  • BIO BB'S: Only biodegradable ammo is allowed at Splat. If you are bringing your own gear, your ammo may be checked by staff. If you accidentally bring non-bio ammo, you can purchase biodegradable bb’s at the check-in shack.

  • EYE PROTECTION: Full seal goggles or ballistic glasses with Z87+ or Z87 (or equivalent) rating eye protection IS REQUIRED.

  • MOUTH PROTECTION: We like our teeth - do you? Highly recommended but not required.

  • FOOTWEAR: Boots with ankle protection highly recommended for uneven terrain.

Chronograph Limits

Untitled design(4).png

Before every game, all airsoft replicas (guns) are “chronographed” on-site, which means - tested to measure muzzle velocity / feet per second (FPS) and energy (joules) of BBs, to ensure they adhere to safety regulations that prevent player injury from overpowered weapons. Chrono also serves to verify performance consistency and support fair gameplay.

Feet Per Second = (FPS)   Minimum Engagement Distance = (MED)

  • Rifleman (400fps w/.2 gram BBs) 1.59 joules Full-Auto
  • LMG (425fps w/.2 gram BBs) 1.79 joules Full-Auto (20ft MED)
  • DMR (450fps w/.2 gram BBs) 2.09 joules SEMI-LOCKED (50ft MED)
  • Sniper (500fps w/.2gram BBs) 2.59 joules (100ft MED)

General Safety Rules

  • Always treat every airsoft replica as a loaded weapon; keep magazines out of the gun in staging areas, and ensure that the chamber is empty when coming off the field.

  • DO NOT test fire your gun in staging areas or anywhere off of the field EXCEPT for in the Chronograph area.

  • Your eye protection must be kept on AT ALL TIMES when on the game field. If you need to adjust your eye protection - first exit the playing field.

  • "Blind man" is a term we yell when someone's eye protection has come off or if an injury has occurred and gameplay needs to stop immediately.

  • Fires on the field should be communicated immediately so we can extinguish the hazard and get back with the game.

Gameplay Rules

  • If you’ve been hit: (or think you’ve been hit) yell “HIT!”, raise your hand and walk to spawn. When in doubt, call yourself out!

  • Holding up a Red “death rag” is highly recommended as another visual cue that you have been hit and it will reduce being over shot.

  • Spawn camping is not allowed: You must allow players to get 100 feet from spawn, get into cover, or for them to aim at you before you can shoot at them again. The game is no fun if you are immediately shot as soon as you get back in the game.

  • Gun hits do not count. Being shot in any part of your wearable gear (vest, helmet, etc) or holstered sidearm will count as a hit.

  • Pyro grenades are allowed: Grenades have a 10ft kill radius unless blocked by hard cover or trench.

  • No blind firing—always have eyes down your sights before pulling the trigger.

  • Final authority lies with the Field Referees; follow all marshal directives.
